Degeneration Is Not Aging

A useful basic distinction we can make is to realise that most of what society has called aging is actually degeneration.

At a Tony Robbins seminar in London I remember Tony talking about "this thing some people call aging", and this is what he was getting at; that the thing most people call aging is actually nothing of the sort.

There is a difference between consistently doing things which we believe damages our body, and the simple passing of time.

To degenerate simply means the deterioration of tissue or change in its structure. Now if we look at the differences in the ways in which different people treat their bodies and the differences in the way they look, the way they move, and so forth, we can see that the results are very different, and that therefore this is a degeneration issue based on the way in which we interact with our bodies, rather than a time based aging issue, as people of the same age can have very different bodies and abilities.

Furthermore, in our article 'No Disease Caused By Time', we see that the simple passing of time has nothing whatsoever to do with these effects, leaving degeneration as the only reason of the two which causes these diseases, incapabilities and discomforts.

This realisation and understanding of the distinct difference between aging and degeneration can be a very positive thing for us. It can help us to take control of our bodies and our outcomes and help us to understand that we are in control. Rather than feel at the mercy of the relentless march of time we can simply see the situation as it really is. This may allow us some very fruitful changes and an increase in our body wisdom.
