Potential For Physical Fitness
This section looks at an effortless and enjoyable way to embrace our potential for physical fitness.
We also subscribe to the key notion that exercise and physical activity be enjoyable; that nothing that we find a chore will ever work or last. And that goes for diets, too.
Correcting the widely held belief that fitness is simply the ability to do a physical thing, such as go upstairs, our colleague David Heard adds a distinction and explains that fitness is the ability to go up the stairs when you are out of breath.
With this insight, and in my article 'Desire For Fitness Occurs Naturally', I relate an awareness of moments during which a desire to develop fitness has come through of its own accord without having to be pushed. This may well help for people who are concerned that fitness is not for them, but would like it to be if it weren't for the challenging associations that come with it.
